Once Saved Always Saved

Once you turn your life over to Jesus you are eternally secured. Period!

(11) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this
life is in his Son.
1 John 5:11

Hallelujah! You read that right! Eternal security through Jesus Christ!
It still surprises me that many Christians today don’t know, trust or believe in eternal security. Probably because they don’t have a bible they can trust in.
Luckily, we have the perfect word of God so we KNOW we are secured… though, it might not always feel like it.
As a Christian you’ll have ups and downs. You will backslide. Hopefully, you’ll be convicted and repent, but even if you don’t God won’t turn his back on you.

(13) If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
2 Timothy 2:13

You can lose many thing as a backsliding Christian. You can lose your testimony, you can lose your rewards, but you can’t lose your salvation.
That’s what GRACE is!

(6) And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more
grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no
more work.
Romans 11:6

A common tactic of heretical doctrines, such as Calvinism, is questioning whether a person who isn’t acting right (works) was ever saved in the first place. They believe in the false doctrine of Lordship Salvation, “a faith that works,” and that if you aren’t working for God then you were never saved even if you thought you were.
This is heresy and easily disproved with scripture (which we will shortly go over). Unfortunately, Calvinism has boomed in popularity in recent years with mega church leaders such as John MacArthur.
Be careful of mega churches and popular teachers and leaders brethren. The word of God is a two edged sword. If lots of people are coming together in unity and harmony, something isn’t right!

(12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any
twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
(34) Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send
peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:34
(51) Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay;
but rather division:
(52) For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three
against two, and two against three.
(53) The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the
father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the
mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter
in law against her mother in law.
Luke 12:51-53
(13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way,
that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
(14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto
life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 7:13-14

I know that’s hard teaching in today’s world and especially in the ecumenical movement now plaguing many of our churches, but the power of negative thinking is a major theme in the bible.
An ounce of prevention (negative) is worth more than a ton of cure (positive).
I would urge you to do a study on Satan. Look up every verse where he speaks and see how much is positive vs negative. I think you’ll be shocked how much of a positive thinker Satan is!
So how do we shut down the Calvinistic notion of NEEDING to do works to be saved? Easy, we turn to scripture:

(4) Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of
debt.
(5) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the
ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 4:4-5
In fact, it’s a sin NOT to trust in faith alone!
(23) And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of
faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Romans 14:23

Without dispensational teaching you can’t get a clear picture of salvation. Passages like Matt. 24:13 suggest that a Christian has to “endure to the end” to be saved… but Jesus wasn’t talking to saved Christians when he said that… how could he be? He was still alive!

(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved.
Romans 10:9

Be glad that you live in this time brethren. Grace is a beautiful thing. It wasn’t given to everyone and won’t always be offered. You are so lucky!
So, how to best understand our salvation?
Once again, we turn to scripture:

(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were
sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
(14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the
purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14

Our salvation was INSTANTANEOUS! We have been sealed until the day of redemption! (see the section on Pre-Trib rapture for more information on the day of redemption)

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the
day of redemption.
Ephesians 4:30.

We have been made the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:15-27). Even if you stumble you can not be divided from it:

(23) And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable,
upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts
have more abundant comeliness.
1 Cor. 12:23

No one can pluck us from our Father’s hand because we are part of his hand!

(27) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
(28) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
(29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able
to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
(30) I and my Father are one.
John 10:27-30

Should we do good works? Yes! Absolutely. We, as Christians, will all face an accounting for at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Cor. 5:10). But is our salvation dependent on it? No!

(38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
(39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

I will be making a video soon to speak more on the matter of OSAS, but until then I would highly recommend watching the sermons I’ve listed below for even more information.
