Have you ever wondered why people celebrate Good Friday? I have. We know that Jesus spent three days and nights in the heart of the earth:
“For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
-Matthew 12:40
We know Jesus showed himself to the Apostles on the first day of the week, Sunday (Luke 24, John 20, Mark 16), so how could he have been buried on Friday, as good Friday teaches?
In short, he couldn’t have. Good Friday is a farce created by the Catholic Church to co-inside with their pagan easter holiday. The reason they give is because the bible says he was buried before the Sabath, which takes place every Saturday:
“And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,” -Mark 15:42
But what the “scholars” missed was that this wasn’t an ordinary sabbath. While the pagans were celebrating easter, the Jews were preparing for Passover (Jesus is our Passover Lamb), and the Passover comes with it’s own sabbaths, in addition to the weekly sabbaths, and these sabbaths are known as “High Sabbaths.” We know from the book of John that THIS is the sabbath that was occurring the night of Jesus’ death:
“The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.”
-John 19:31
See, unlike us in the west, the Jews start their day at night. So, Sunday night for us, is really Monday night for them.
Knowing all this we can now figure out when Jesus died on the cross, was buried and resurrected.
Jesus was put on the cross and died on a Wednesday, which was the Passover and Preparation day. He spent 3 days and night in the heart of the earth (Thursday-the High Sabbath, Friday, and Saturday-the weekly Sabbath). He was already out of the tomb early in the morning the Sunday he appears to everyone (John 20:1) Which means he arose just before sunset on the Saturday, completing 3 full days and night inside the heart of the earth.
